With the vigorous development of the new energy vehicle market and the continuous expansion of charging infrastructure construction, the quality of electric vehicle power supply equipment and charging safety have become more and more important. The National Energy Administration has formulated the mandatory national standard GB 39752-2024 Safety Requirements for Electric Vehicle Power Supply Equipment, and jointly developed the mandatory national standard GB 44263-2024 Safety Requirements for Conductive Charging Systems for Electric Vehicles with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Both standards have been recently released and will come into effect on August 1, 2025. GB 39752-2024 applies to all types of power supply equipment connecting electric vehicles to the power grid (power source), with a rated output voltage of AC 1000V or DC 1500V and below, including In - cable Control and Protection Devices (Mode 2), AC charging piles (Mode 3), and DC chargers (Mode 4). Among them, the requirements for residual current protection are aligned with the European standards (EN standards) of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), clearly stipulating that the residual current protection device of electric vehicle power supply equipment must have the following functions: the ability to protect against AC residual current, pulsating DC residual current, as well as detect and protect against smooth DC residual current of 6mA and above.
